About the Festival

The Drumfestival is a grass-roots initiative focuses on spontaneous collective experience created by the togetherness of collective drumming and dancing, loving and respecting each other.

We aims at the promotion of intercultural tolerance, and wishes to strengthen mutual understanding and respect for each others cultures by celebrating the cultural diversity of the world, presenting different cultures, ethincs, and the Hungarian traditional culture as well, through the arts: music, dance and fine arts.

We believe that being exposed to the culture of the other can indeed contribute to the elimination of preconceived ideas, racism and intercultural intolerance. In addition, we would like the people to pay attention on the importance of sustainability and environmental protection and other burning issues of the planet.

The 9th Drumfestival – International World Music Gathering is a 4-day long gathering which hosts percussion and world music concerts, dance and juggling performances, dozens of workshops, exhibitions and „civilian village” of NGO's concentrating on burning issues related to globalization like human rights, climate change, sustainability, protection of the environment and alternative lifestyles.

The “Drumfestival-feeling's” basic mood is the improvisative drumbeat that you can hear from here and there all day. Almost always we can find somewhere a collective making music in a drumcircle.

During the concerts various world music (African, Arabic, Australian, Latin-American, the Balkans and of course Hungarian) and thr melodious rhythms of these music create the real tribal summer evening festival feeling, accompanied by Afro dance, Belly Dance, Capoeira and fire juggler performances. After the concerts the tribal mood fans can find the inevitable common drumming around the campfire.

To add to the unique experience are all kinds of attached attractions, such as the open air swimming pool, the thermal waters next to your tent, the clean green camping site with hot showers, the load of dance, music and creativity workshops, the civilian village, and of course, the usual crowd of interesting people from all over the world.
